This was purchased for our baby, who is due May 5th, back at Christmas time by Grandparents. It hadn’t been released yet by Fisher Price so we just received it today. Even though I hadn’t seen this in stores, I like new products and am easily swayed by new “features”! My 10 year old daughter and I put it together. It was easy enough as long as you follow the directions. The seat is a nice soft micro plush fabric and will be easy to take off and put on for washing. I really like that this product swings and glides and you can turn the seat to either cradle or swing. The “gliding” is actually just moving back and forth without a swinging motion. Still it’s a nice feature as you don’t know what your particular baby will be happy with. LOVE that this swing plugs into the wall (though you can put batteries in it if you want) !! That was actually the main feature that drew me to this swing. Hated the old swings that ate batteries. I also like the head support as well. Oh and the songs and nature sounds are awesome and the volume control great! Plus the foot buttons are really great too. So here are the drawbacks that made this swing only earn 4 vs. 5 stars: first is that the seat sits quite low. While I know most swings do sit low, I thought this one was a bit higher. I am 5’7″ and will be bending down quite a bit to put the baby in. The “seat recline” is really two options, really reclined or reclined and that’s it. I found there is really not much difference between the two options. But my biggest complaint is the mobile. Though really cute and I love that the bottom is a mirror for baby to look at, it doesn’t move at all. The butterflies are plastic and I guess the baby could bat at them. It’s quite low to the seat and is really in the way when it comes to putting baby in and out. There is no way to swing it out of the way so you’ll have to tip baby head down a bit to put in under the mobile and into seat while bending down. It’s annoying but I still really like this swing and would recommend it. It is ALMOST the perfect swing!

This is my third swing from fisher Price in the last 5 years. I loved them all and only gave them up because of storage issues. With each new swing Fisher Price has made improvements and this swing is by far the best! This swing has the great cradle seat of my original baby Papasan Swing, the plug in option of my Pink Papasan and now I have the added option of choosing a gliding motion! This is my first glider… and I love it! I can set it up to glide in 2 different directions; the action is smooth and the switch over from the swing option is fast and easy. Some of my other favorite features of the swing are the foot controls and the nice color. The soft sage green is simple and neutral, perfect for my brown/green/blue nursery. I highly recommend this swing and anticipate it being a top seller for fisher price. Check out my custom images to see my 9 day old infant in the swing. He is only 5 pounds so quite tiny in the swing!

When I was on bed rest I found the reviews and photos of baby products priceless. So I though I would try to return the favor.

positives:
pleasing to the eye. very comfy seat. directly plug to the wall socket saving batteries.
Negatives:
Fisher Price seems to have released this product without doing proper product testing – first unit I bought had a faulty glider that jerked the entire unit, rather violently, when it changed direction. We called Fisher Price and they sent a new unit. we changed the base and tried the new one to find out the glider was still jerky, though reltively less intense. but the kicker this time – the swing in the second unit does not work at all. our baby is rathe small (~7 lbs), so it obviously isn’t a weight problem.
we’ve called Fisher Price again and they are offering to do a refund of the purchase price or to send yet another new unit. At this point neither of these options are of real value to us given we can get the refund from Amazon (don’t need FP to do that) and another new unit will need a considerable amount of time to put together again – When you have a newborn, time’s not exactly a luxury you can spare.
It is really frustrating that Fisher Price/ Mattel is playing dumb about these issues – it seems to have no idea why the glider is jerky or the swing useless. what happened to corporate responsibility? don’t these products get tested before being sold?

i had to exchange my first one due to the glide option being defective – it will glide twice or so and then will stop and the speed light will flash – received the new one and it does the same thing – contacted fisher price and was told that the model they had there did not do this and there was no way for it to be repaired, and so i was offered a refund – i decided to keep the swing due to it’s other qualities, and really purchased it to be a swing so the glide option wasn’t too important to me, but i was disappointed that my only option was a refund when i would have liked to keep the swing but have it repaired so it works correctly! i originally ordered this swing based on it’s appearance – looks appropriate in our modern home – it did not let me down and was actually smaller in size (a good thing!) than what i had thought. the seat material is extremely soft, the butterfly mobile is darling and can be rotated out if you don’t want to use it, which i was hoping for this feature. the swing is a little loud but probably comparable to others, the volume of the music is a little loud even when it is turned all the way down. oh and the seat doesn’t really have a recline option, it is a barely noticeable difference when reclined. so i guess my review is mixed and since i based my purchase purely on appearance, and i really do like the way it looks in our home, i can give it an OK rating even despite the other issues!

This swing has saved my life, and my sanity! I am a first time Mom, and my son has colic. He wouldn’t sleep unless he was being held and I was walking/bouncing/patting him, or if I was rocking him in my rocker glider. He sleeps in this swing…all night. Naps in it. Hangs out in it. LOVES IT! We have one for our home, and one at my parents. Absolutely essential for our little guy. The seat does not seem to have much difference in the two recline options, but my son really prefers for it to be in the most reclined option. The moblie doesn’t move, but he still loves it and we hang other toys off it for him as well. By the way, the moblie swings out of the way so that you can easily get your child in and out of the swing. (someone complained about that in an earlier review, I don’t think she knows she could swing it out of the way!) As our solution to colic, it is a lot better than the morphine drops our pediatrician offered us, which we declined (and were quite shocked that they would even offer!)
UPDATE: I actually own two of these swings, one at my home and one at my parents. Both have broken…one quit swinging and one quit gliding. I am pretty disappointed considering that we paid top dollar for this product, and it is already BROKEN!!
