Great brush – had before, December 9, 2010

We’ve used this brush for our last baby, and are now getting one for the second. Love the extra nipple brush in compartment – will not get lost. Has brush and sponge for superior cleaning of breastmilk fat residue (hard to get off!).

I have had two of these bottles brushes so far. I only like to use them for a month or so before throwing them away just because I feel they are probably germy by them. I love how these brushes are so affordable! The first one that I got was wonderful, nice and sturdy. The second one seemed much more flimsy, just doing the same movements as the first brush, the wire bent. Then the wire broke, and would slide down inside the handle as I washed bottles. It was still fine, but if my bottles had been any longer, it would have been too short.

Overall, I think they are wonderful, and think maybe I just got a bad one that one time. I have not bought a third yet. But I will.

Gets the job done, October 4, 2010

BUT, I am constantly buying new ones since the spinning motion to clean a bottle causes the handle to snap. But for a couple dollars each couple months, it’s not that bad. I recently found one that has a swivel handle, so I might try that out next.

The thickness is not bad on these, but the opening for the nipple is very narrow. If you have tiny nipples, these might work, otherwise they will not grant for enough movement to properly nurse. Definitely smaller than a standard size.

Although the transaction went smoothly, I have a problem with the product itself. When I purchased the item, I thought what a good deal I got, until it arrived. The shields do not hold a shape. They are sticky and flimsy. These are superior left in the trash.

My favorite shield so far, January 24, 2011

I have tried a few different brands of shields to try to get my baby to nurse effectively, and so far these are my favorite. I have found that most shields have massive holes for the milk to come through, and my skin ends up coming through as well and this is very painful. These shields are very flimsy, but the holes are smaller and therefore much more comfortable in that aspect. The biggest con that I can see is that they are smaller in the middle so they are a tiny awkward to place. But because of the flimsy material, they are not terribly difficult to place and I can feel the baby nursing much superior and he is able to nurse more effectively emptying the breast with tiny trouble. This was not happening with the other brands of shields. So I give this product 4 stars even though there are a few flaws. But I am purchasing more, if that gives you any idea of how I feel about it.

Great for on the go!, January 8, 2011

My baby weighed over 8 lbs at birth, and just was not satisfied with her milk alone. After 4 months of 2am, 3am, 4 am feedings, and sleep deprivation, my mother recommended these feeder bottles. She stated she used them for me back in the 70′s. I know there is controversy about rice cereal and sleeping through the night, but I do not care. It worked! These are great, and you cannot find them in the stores. They are a bit to clean up, but so is a hungry, messy baby in the car. These bottles are wonderful for travelling, and at times when you just do not have the time or accessibility to break out a high chair, spoons, etc..

GREAT PRODUCT, October 20, 2010

I HAVE BEEN USING THESE BOTTLE FEEDERS FOR A TOTAL OF 3 YEARS.I USED THEM WITH MY FIRST DAUGHTER AND NOW MY SON. THESE BOTTLES ARE HELPFUL TO THE BABIES ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE INTRODUCED TO CERAL AND FIRST FOODS BECAUSE THE CEREAL AND FOOD GET THICK UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE MONEY ON BOTTLES BY KEEP PUTTING BIGGER HOLES THEM. YOU CANNOT FIND THESE IN THE STORE SO ONCE YOU FIND THE KIND YOU LIKE I SUGGEST YOU BUY MORE THAN ONE PACK. I HOPE YOU ENJOY THEM AS MUCH AS I DO.

SO WORTH IT!, September 27, 2010

I was skeptical, but figured I’d try them out after being recommended them by colleagues. The feeder bottle is perfect for starting your baby on solids. I did not have much luck with my son eating cereal out of it, but he seems to hate cereal anyway. Baby Food on the other hand, its a life saver! Once your child is spoon fed, the feeder bottle is not really necessary anymore except that its fast, easy, and there is very tiny waste. I bet I will use this at least until my son is 18months (he’s 6 months now).

A slight complaint, it can be a bit drippy, BUT nowhere near the mess of spoon feeding! I will definitely be buying more for back up and for my anticipating friends and family members. I gave one to my husband’s niece and she was thrilled!! They are impossible to find in stores though, so do not even bother looking. Your baby will be full and used to fruit and veggie puree goodness so when he/she is trying to learn to spoon feed, the foods are familiar! The price is right. They are worth each dime.

( I can see that if a child is not used to taking a bottle, using these might be a challenge because the nipple is quite tough, mine was used to a bottle and adjusted with ease! )

nice set, easy to use, March 22, 2010

this is a great starter set. we bought extra bottles separately just so we would not need to wash parts so often. they are easy to assemble, never leaky unless the liner is over-filled. liners are expensive, but we found generic store brand liners work just as well (if not better, since they seem to be made of a thicker plastic) than the playtex liners for half the price. overall worth it for not having to constantly clean bottles. i use a microwave steam sterilizer to make sure the nipples, caps & rings are thoroughly clean and either handwash the holders or put them right in the dishwasher. these bottles also prevent having a gassy baby since you have to physically push the extra air out of the liner before feeding. this is sometimes hard to do since the bottles are taller than is reachable with my fingers, but this is an easy thing to remedy if you just use something longer to do this (like the thick handle on a wooden spoon). overall, wonderful bottles.

These bottles are the ideal for pumping moms!, March 21, 2011

I pump breast milk exclusively and these bottles have been great. My son has never had spit-up or tummy issues with these bottles. No, you cannot use them with bottle warmers, but bottle warmers seem to be more trouble than they are worth anyway from what I have heard. Just set it in a cup of hot tap water, (leave it running if you need it fast) and you have a warm bottle in a minute or two. If you are pumping breast milk it doesn’t matter so much because the milk can sit out for 6-8 hrs. in the correct room temp. and still be safe to drink. Also, nothing sticks to the inside of the liners. With other bottles I noticed a residue, most likely the healthy fats and nutrients from my milk clinging to and streaking down the side of the bottles. Not with these. You can even purchase a Playtex breast milk kit which has pump adapters that grant you to pump directly into these bottles. I will definitely use them again with my next child.

I like the bag, but you cannot zip it with 8 oz. Brown’s bottles in it. I need to take 3 bottles and 2 baby foods to daycare, and that will not remotely make it in this bag. However, the bag is narrow too, which is great for carrying the small medela bottles that you pump milk into which have a tendency to leak.

It comes with an ice pack but i found that the Medela 4 bottle ice pack works superior -OR- i really like the icy-cools reusable ice mat. With the ice mat, you can cut them in between the sealed squares to fit your cooler perfectly. Then you have cold around both sides and not just on the bottom, like with the ice pack it comes with.

Its a good design and clips to nearly anything. Its good not just for bottles, but as an upright lunchbox.

bigger than it seems, January 13, 2009

When I ordered this for my wife we were wondering if three medela bottles would fit into it or not. They fit into it with ease and the ice pack saves the milk for about 12 hours perfectly.

We’ve got what we need.

By the way you do not need to purchase an extra ice pack as it contains a good one.

We purchased the Soothie bottles #1 for their overall value and #2 lots of good reports on them. I was not disappointed! This is the ideal gift set you could ever give someone who is having a baby. I just had my 4th child in August and she took to these bottles fantastically! This set comes with handy containers to hold formula or snacks that attach to the bottom of the bottle and they lock in place and do not fall off! These also do a wonderful job of venting air and do not leak. They also provide the perfect flow for my newborn so she is not gulping and drooling down the side of her face. I used to use Avent, but they are so overly priced and after hearing all the bad reviews this year with the poor construction on them with their new BPA free line, I just decided it was not going to be worth the added cost. Glad I made the change!

I purchased these bottles because I liked that the set had the soothie nipples which was given to my son in the hospital and he loves. It also comes with a soothie pacifier and a bottle brush. I like that the lids fit on the bottoms of the bottles so they do not get lost and I like that they are wide and simple to clean.

My biggest problem is that even though the set states there are slow flow nipples for newborns and fast flow for older babies, my son chokes on the formula because the flow is too fast on the slow flow nipples. In my opinion, the slow flow should be slower.

I have a 3 month old son who used to get very very gassy after each bottle feeding. That is until I purchased the First Years Soothie. He is still somewhat gassy but definitely much much superior than before. With the old bottles I got, I could see a lot of bubbles forming while my son was drinking his formula. But with this product, I only see a tiny bit and sometimes none at all. My son did not have any problem latching onto the nipple even though he is mostly breastfed (he only takes 2 bottles a day) and unlike some other reviews this bottle is not too huge for him. I think it’s just the right size. We have owned the starter set for a month now and none of the bottles leak.

As for the pacifier, my son would not keep it in his mouth too long, just like any other pacifiers. He just doesn’t like pacifiers I guess.

I had needed fast flow nipples for my twins. These have fit the purpose well. These nipples are also standard size (see below), silicone texture, and traditional round shaped.

* Flow: nipples come in newborn, slow, medium and fast.

* Standard vs. non-standard: It’s important to get nipples that fit your bottles. For example, Gerber and Medela have standard bottles. Advent has some standard and some non-standard bottles. Dr. Brown has non-standard bottles that only use Dr. Brown nipples.

* Texture: soft latex, firmer silicone, and traditional rubber.

* Shapes: traditional (round), orthodontic, and flat-topped.

Between 3 and 4 stars…, July 9, 2010

… these are pretty good. I purchased them to replace medium-flow Evenflo nipples. I’d give them more stars for seeming durability and accurately described as “fast flow,” but fewer stars because the base circumference SEEMS to be smaller around than the other nipples. I get considerably more leakage around the edges than I did with the Evenflo, others. We just shake the bottles with a paper towel around the top… weird, but it does the trick alright. I’d probably purchase them again if they were , but with the leaks, a few cents more for another brand is probably best.

Avent finally makes a leak-free BPA-free bottle!, October 21, 2009

For our first baby born in July ’07, we used (and loved) the original Polycarbonate Avent bottles the first few months. Then the BPA paranoia overtook us, and we switched to Born Free bottles, which are made of honey-colored Polyether Sulphone (PES). The Born Free bottles worked well enough, but we hated the 2 extra complicated parts per bottle that we had to clean. For our second kid born in Sept ’09, we wanted badly to switch back to Avent, but read poor reviews of the PES BPA-free Avent bottles (apparently they leaked for many users). Fortunately, right around that time, Avent introduced a second line of BPA-free bottles made of the cloudy Polypropylene (PPE), and initial reviews indicated that Avent fixed the leaks (by adding a simple removable collar between the bottle and nipple). After 1 month of using these new PPE Avent bottles, I can attest that they indeed do not leak, and I do not need to take special care or do any procedure to make them leak-free. They just do not leak. Yes, the newly added collar is an extra part to clean, but at least it’s a simple part that is simple to clean. So for all you Avent fans out there, take heart! Avent fixed the leaks. Tip: the leaky PES honey-colored bottles come in yellow-colored boxes. The new leak-free PPE cloudy bottles come in blue-colored boxes. Purchase the blue-colored boxes.

incoming air scares the baby, November 20, 2010

The hissing sound of air coming into the bottle while feeding scares my son and he does not like the bottle much. Also, for the bottle to work properly, you do not want to overtight, it’s tricky (for it’s going to leak otherwise) and might feel frustrating in a middle of the night. I am mostly using the bottle with a manual Avent pump and to heat up my milk.

Very disappointed, March 9, 2011

My baby is over a year old and I have been using this brand since he was born. This bottle does not look like the ones I purchased before and I cant seem to get it to stop leaking. I have wasted my money and the only reason I didnt return it is because I already washed it.
