Well constructed, but not practically useful at all., August 4, 2009

Updated: As I removed the cushion from my daughter’s chair, I noticed the back strap holding it to the chair was already tearing away. So “Pro #1″ is off the list. I’d change it down to a 1 star, but the page is not giving me that option.

Pros (not almost enough to outweigh the cons, but enough to make me feel bad giving it 1 star):

1) It is very nicely made. The fabric seems durable, and the seams look well done.

2) The fabric wipes off superior than a cloth seat cushion.

Cons:

1) It is a quite thick booster, and not really adjustable at all. I expected to be able to pat the beads around to arrange it to the height my 2 yr old daughter would need, but there is no way to remove any of the filling, and only a tiny bit of the filling can actually be shoved out of the way due to the shape in which the cushion is sewn. When my daughter is sitting in it, she cannot get her legs under the table, so she has to sit pretty far back from the table and food gets all over her lap.

2) My daughter cannot climb in and out of the chair anymore. She could easily climb in and out of her high chair that strapped to the dining room chair, so it’s not like she is not capable of climbing fairly well. It’s that this booster is too high, so she cannot reach the back of the chair above it to grab hold, and shifts around so much that she cannot get a firm surface to climb onto. Then, once she is up there, the bean bag stuffing is very lopsided and not comfortable or simple to sit on at all, and my very patient daughter ends up yelling in frustration. I am back to having to lift her into the chair so that she plops straight down to properly situate the bean bag stuffing. I have not had to do this in at least 4 months, and it is very annoying.

Summary: Waste of money, waste of space, waste of plastic, wish I could return it. After three days of use, I will be replacing this with one or two cheap tie-back seat pads from Wal-Mart. I should have done this in the first place (I saw a friend stack two together so that her daughter could reach the table comfortably), but I was tempted by the wipe-clean fabric and other good reviews.

Great booster, September 23, 2008

Leachco Booty Boost – Non-Slip Booster Cushion – Purple Very flexible booster. I have two 3-year old granddaughters. The bean bag design helps support their legs instead of them dangling down the way they do in a regular booster seat. The non-skid bottom is great and the soft material is wonderful for my new dining room chairs. Also – I love the color!! The only down side is when the girls are squirmy, the beans are a tiny noisy at the table.

My daughter was 2 when I got this and I ordered it because we have a wide table top that be cant slide a booster seat under it. It worked in that aspect that it fit nice under the table with her on it. Problem was I had to sit her down and pick her up each time it was time to eat, which she hated, and wiping it off was a pain in the neck. Its not as full as it looks in the photo so it moves a lot when wiping.

Sit snack & death trap, April 8, 2009

I liked the *idea* of this booster when I purchased it, but it proved to be nothing but trouble.

First, the straps that held the seat to a chair were defective – any weight on the seat at all (think squirming toddler) caused the straps to fly loose. I called the manufacturer, and they sent me new straps, which fixed that problem.

Then, I noticed that the crotch strap was extremely short. I have a very thin (25%ile weight) 18 mo, and the strap was so short that when buckled, it sat even with the seat of the chair. In fact, it bowed out – think like a beer bellied guy’s belt buckle. I contacted the manufacturer again, and was told that there was no replacement or alternate crotch strap available.

We gave the chair a try for a week or 10 days. Today, while I was washing her hands, my 18 mo decided to try to leap out of the chair. The crotch strap being so low, it offered NO resistance to her movement. She and the booster and the chair to which it was strapped went over forward – thankfully I caught her before she hit. I contacted the manufacturer again and told them about this. They are going to send me paperwork so I can send them back the straps and they are going to send me a new booster of a different model (because dumb me did not keep the receipt for this one).

I was a tiny shocked that they did not ask for more information about the situation, such as her weight & height. Hopefully the new seat they send will not have such problems.

Stay away from this seat. It’s so badly designed, that it’s clear that no one with children was involved its development.

Easy to pinch fingers, hard to adjust, March 28, 2009

I thought this would be a cheaper but equally good version of the Fisher Price chair that a friend of mine has, but I was wrong. The tray is hard to attach, and you have to force it on the side pegs which constantly makes me worry my tiny one’s fingers will be pinched. The strap in the front that comes up between the child’s legs is too short for my 6 month old, which means when you clip the side straps into the middle part it pinches her legs. These are my two main complaints and the reasons why I returned it for the Fisher Price Healthy Care Dlx chair which is about more (and is sturdier, has more height adjustment options for the legs, and has a removable tray that fits in the dish washer).

I just purchased this for my 11 month old because I liked an earlier model my baby sitter has. The old model is better. My 11 month old is already too huge to fit in this with the tray in place. I concede that she has chubby thighs, but I expected the tray to fit at least until she is a toddler.

This is a great booster:

-The seat is padded and comfortable

-It’s very simple to clean and (so far) doesn’t stain

-The bottom doesn’t scratch your chair

-Straps to the chair and has an optional lap belt

-The funky colors are kind of cool (I have the orange)

Overall a really well designed seat: functional and stylish.

We got this chair for my son’s second birthday. It’s very stylish looking and he thought it was very comfortable. However, I found the straps to attach it to the chair confusing (and the instructions were not helpful). He could also easily get out of the lap straps. The seat was simple to clean however food did end up between the base and the comfy seat – it was fairly simple to get out but I wished the two pieces were fused together in some way to avoid this food trap.

Awesome booster seat, January 6, 2009

This booster is so perfect! My daughter who was 20 months when we bought it and is now 23 months. She is very tall for age and grew out of her high chair. She really wanted to sit at the table with my husband and I. I had looked at out booster seats and did not feel comfortable with the reviews that I saw. I needed a booster seat that latched to the chair as I have a wiggle worm for a daughter and I have one of those high Italian table with high chairs…so I feared my daughter falling out of the chair. She does very well in the chair and adores the color. I ask her each time to go to her chair for meals and she knows which chair is her’s. Plus this booster can be carried to outside functions or restaurants. I am sure that all others will enjoy this booster too!!

Booster Seat or High Chair?, August 18, 2009

I was debating about whether I should purchase a high chair or booster seat for quite some time. I hate clutter and I did not want something too large being that he will outgrow it soon. I feel this is the ideal choice I made. Its cute, it attaches safely and tightly to the chair and he adores being in it. It is also very simple to clean which is important to me. I did not want any fabric on it that I’d have to take off and wash all the time.

My son is 6 months old and determined to learn how to sit on his own. He loved this chair. I advocate it. Great price.

A “normal” high chair was too obnoxiously large for our kitchen and we wanted our son to be able to sit at the table with the rest of us so we purchased the inexpensive lion booster. We liked it so much that we ended up buying a second one a month later so that we could have it already set up at both our kitchen table and our dining room table. Our son (now 9 months old and large for his age) really likes it. We even use it at the piano for him. It’s simple to clean and straps on tightly to our chairs – without leaving a mark. This was an excellent purchase that I advocate to everyone with kids. Do not purchase a large highchair – there is no point.

My son adores this seat!, June 15, 2009

We purchased this for my son when he was about 17 months old. We were ready to move the high chair out of our dining room, but were not comfortable using the products that go under a traditional dining chair and lift it up – he is just too active for that. He is loved this chair since we brought it home. We do not use the tray, we just pull him up to the table with us. It’s attached securely to our own dining chair, is very simple to clean and can easily be removed if we are having adults over for dinner.

Now when it’s time for a meal or snack, I just ask him to go stand next to his “lion chair” and he knows what to do. He adores being able to eat at the table like we do and we love the ease of this booster. We will definitely take it with us when we go to grandma’s house, etc. Highly advocate it based on price, durability and the fact that my son adores it.
